Welcome to the Pollinator Garden! Go ahead and open the door. In here, you can find native plant species that flower during the spring, summer and fall giving food to our native pollinators: bees, beetles, hummingbirds, bats and more!
You’ll also see a small vegetable garden. This is where greens and veggies are grown for Ned, the ornate box turtle who you met at the Nature Center.
Pollinators are important for ecosystems and us! They transfer pollen from one flower to another thus creating new seeds to grow more plants, food and shelter for the animals and yummy food for people.
Take time to explore the garden. Then, leave through the second door. Close it behind you; otherwise, hungry rabbits will come in and eat the plants! Continue to walk towards the mountains.
As you continue down the trail, look out into the Prairie, the big open area. It might seem empty, but the raptors living at the park think otherwise. With their keen eyesight, they hunt other birds, small mammals, reptiles and insects in this ecosystem.
Take a look at the sky and tall trees. You might see one of them soaring in the air or perched on a tree top. Stop at the raptor interpretive sign along this trail to learn more about the raptor species at the park.
Once you pass the garages on your right, you’ll get to your next stop.
