Margaret Bews

Margaret Hannah Mooney Bews died in 1896 at age 30, just two months after her wedding day. She was ill for six weeks, during which time she failed rapidly. Doctor Lippincott performed a surgery to see if he could alleviate the symptoms, but according to her obituary, “The shock proved too great for her weakened condition” and she died 24 hours later. She retained full consciousness almost to the moment of dissolution and suffered no pain. 

She resided in Silver over a year, during which time she made many friends who are grieved over the death. She leaves a husband, William Bews, a father and mother, two brothers, and a six-year-old daughter from a former marriage to mourn her death. The blow is extremely severe to her husband and parents who reside here.

William Bews, a miner by trade, remarried Sarah Annie in 1900. They moved to Star Idaho where William listed his occupation as engineer in the farming and stationery industry in the 1920 Census. They had seven children and are buried in the Star cemetery.
