Lackawanna Terminal is a former train station. It was built in 1913. The rail line it was on went from Buffalo, NY to Hoboken, NJ. From Hoboken, it was a quick ferry ride to New York City. The public transportation connection to New York City made Montclair a desirable place to live. This station stopped serving trains in 1981, when it was replaced by the Bay Street Station one block east. It was converted to a small outdoor shopping mall.
