Here is a solemn memorial for two civil rights heroes: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King. This memorial was founded in 2009. A group of Montclair citizens wanted to honor the Kings for their important work, so they raised money and worked with the town to design and install the memorial. In 2020, this site became an impromptu memorial for George Floyd and a place where the Montclair community rallied to protest police brutality and systemic racism. While you are here, take a moment to breathe in the fresh air from Nishuane Park and reflect on how the Kings made this world a better place.
