Marina Strawberry Tree

On the opposite side of the street, at 4042 23rd, is a Marina strawberry tree.  The scientific name is Arbutus x ‘Marina’, and it is a hybrid of Mediterranean species. The tree is a hybrid of two European species, and is thought to have been brought to San Francisco at the Panama–Pacific International Exposition in 1915.
