Lincoln Community Building

One of Lincoln's most important buildings is the Lincoln Community Building, it also has a very rich history. It used to be The American Legion Post and was organised on Jan.21st.1926. It was named in honor of the first Lincoln boy who gave his life in WW1, Hagen R.Beaty Post 171. In 1933 the members began to work to secure a permanent home for the post. The building commity of Stirman Karnes, Charlie Moore, Homer Snodgrass, Sr. Bryan Hilton and C.W.Trewhit planned to build in the city square park under a W.P.A project and with a 99 Year lease from the city. The previous building was built in 1934 and was demolished in 2023 due to structural issues. The new one standing now was constructed with a similar front facade but now it faces south instead of west.
