The picture above is of Lincoln’s hotel that once stood on the corner lot now used as a parking lot for the tittle’s store. Like most early , Lincoln had provisions for its logging “drummers” on a smaller scale but this was the first hotel of prominence. A Mr. Michell came from Fayetteville and built it in 1904. He rented it to Doke Holt and Charlie Burns for 530$ per month. Mr. Mitchell bought the lot from James (Hardware Jiz) Smith who had previously purchased all the lots on the south side of the square from Mr. Easby . Mr. Smith. Stone building still stands. The hotel had several owners and managers during its existence ; Grant Hargrove,Zeb T.B West ,Wood Houck J.A. Miller 1922 - 1926, John Haws, 1914 - 1916. He sold it to T.B. West.
