In an effort to secure the future of his family business, at the age of 79, J.C. Newman closed his operations in Cleveland, Ohio and moved the company to the Cigar Capital of the World, Tampa. J.C. Newman Cigar Company started making cigars in El Reloj in January of 1954 which has served as its International Headquarters ever since.
J.C. Newman Cigar Company still makes cigars here two ways, on antique hand-operated cigar machines which you can see on this panel, and by hand which you can see in the American Room on the third floor.
