Nathan Brown House

I’m called the Nathan Brown House and I was built in 1798 by Nathan Brown for his son who was known around town as Cornet. Cornet was active in town and state government, as was his son Josiah, who inherited the property and lived here with his family in the early 1800’s.
One of my most interesting features is a secret room that was built into the space behind the staircase between the living room, parlor and dining room fireplaces to hide in case of Native American attack. My largest fireplace still has it original beehive oven, which my current owners use on occasion to cook a special meal.
Please take a look at my enormous barn, easily visible here from the road, which was built around 1870. The farm here was managed by members of familiar family names in Hampton Falls history – including the Emmons, Sanborn, and Brown families. My current owners are doing extensive restoration of fireplace mantels, floors and windows, keeping the house as true to its rich historic roots as possible.
