Arnold learned his strong work ethic from his parents. Gway was a merchant marine, meaning he would often be away at sea for months at a time while Show Har worked as a seamstress in Chinatown. When Arnold finally earned his law degree he was excited to get started building a practice that would not only provide for his family but his community as well. He had to study Chinese by watching CCTV - China News - in order for him to have the language skills to support the needs of his Chinese clients. In the beginning, it was a modest family law practice often confronted with a myriad of challenges from immigration to divorce, personal injury, and unlawful termination. Many of these families were recent immigrants still looking to find their way here in the U.S. Many times they were seeking more than just immigration advice, but really a guide to services and opportunity and connections as they embarked on their new life. Arnold saw the hopes and dreams of these families sitting across from him. I remember meetings that would go on for hours, Arnold turning off the clock while he listened to countless stories and struggles family by family.
