If you’ve decided to continue on the procession, welcome back. Kearney Street has always been an iconic leg of the San Francisco Chinatown parade route as it moves through San Francisco’s bustling financial district directly into Chinatown. Arnold would be the parade director for many years, a role that he took a tremendous amount of pride in. His greatest joy was finding new talent and performers from China. He loved to bring his grandchildren to this event to see the awesome dragon and hear the firecrackers at the grand finale.
251 Kearny Street was also the last office location for Arnold and Nanci’s self-run businesses before they would both eventually retire. They would walk down from 1255 Montgomery Street hand in hand to go to work every day while they lived atop Telegraph Hill where they could enjoy the best of Chinatown, Northbeach, and what they called the “sunny side” of San Francisco.
