Chimney Swift Tower

Follow the undeveloped wooded pathways around the event lawns to make your way to the Chimney Swift Tower.

Chimney Swift Tower

In amongst the prairie, there is a large white tower. This structure was built by the Wausau Bird Club for Chimney Swift birds.  The tower provides nesting space and migration habitat for Chimney Swift.  These birds cannot perch on branches like an ordinary bird, but can cling onto vertical surfaces, so a chimney structure is perfect habitat for them to build a nest. Chimney Swifts are great for insect control, so we want to welcome them into the area.
