Study of Pinecones

This scene is just outside my art gallery entrance. I was captivated by the beautiful russet tones of the pine needles and the contrast of the pinecones tinged with white sap. I used this sketch as a reference for four paintings, including Friends and Memories, which is displayed in this show. This little sketch was dashed off rather quickly in a staccato-type fashion.
