Introduction

Welcome to Boston's Latin Quarter Public Art Tour! My name is Sophia Thomas and I’ll be guiding you through all the awesome public art of this neighborhood. I’m a rising high school senior who has spent my summer interning with Hyde Square Task Force, and I’ve lived in the Latin Quarter my entire life! 

The area of Jamaica Plain that you will be exploring today was designated a cultural district by the Massachusetts Cultural Council in 2018. The designation aims to preserve and uplift the decades of rich history, as well as the contributions of Latinx immigrants who have made the neighborhood what it is today. Now let's dive into the tour! We will start at Jackson Square MBTA Station.
