Hi, my name is Joanne Lefrak. This work is a collaboration with my friend and poet Hakim Bellamy and was created after we trekked through the Himalayas together. Rather than pressing ink through an exposed silk screen, I pressed glass powder through the screen and then kiln fired the pieces. The sizes and imagery of the works are based on modernist jazz and soul record covers which have the energy of the soul feeling of being in the sacred sites in Upper Mustang, Nepal.
