St. John Chrysostom was an important Early Church Father who served as archbishop of Constantinople. He was born approximately 347 AD, and died in the year 407.
He was known for his preaching and public speaking, (the word chrysostom means golden-tongued). He was one of the most prolific authors in the early Christian Church. He died when his enemies forced him to travel on foot in cold weather.
