Baptismal Font

As you enter through the main doors, a large baptismal font that also serves as our primary holy water font greets all who enter to help remind them that in the waters of baptism, we become the adopted sons and daughters of God the Father in Christ. Our baptismal font declares this truth with the inscription from the first Letter of St. John (Chapter 3, verse 1): "See what love the Father has bestowed on us that we may be called the children of God."

Above the baptismal font is a mosaic of a dove, a symbol of the Holy Spirit. The mosaic is a fitting and beautiful reminder that we enter the Kingdom of God through the waters of baptism, becoming beloved sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father. The mosaic is trimmed with decorative wood inscribed in gold with the words Jesus spoke to Nicodemus in the Gospel of John:

"No one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit."

John 3:5

Architecturally, the circular mosaic complements the dome over the main altar and provides a sense of visual continuity and harmony even as one first enters the church.

Next please proceed down the aisle to the main altar.
