No 27 is a Grade II listed building dating back to the 1690s. In the 19th century, it operated as a beer house, before transitioning into a dairy sometime in the second quarter of the 20th century. By the 1950s, the ground floor had become The Suffolk Dairy, a publishers and songwriters' cafe.
From 1978, the basement and subsequently the ground floor were occupied by Andy's Guitar Workshop, one of the street's best-known guitar shops. On the staff was Tim Marten, who from 1980, toured as a guitar tech for Jimmy Page and also worked for Roger Waters, Ray Davies, and Steve Harley, contributing to the shop's reputation as a hub for both craftsmanship and music history.
