13 - About our work

Hello – my name is Bo Albrechtsen and I am the Site Manager here in the UNESCO area. As Site Manager, I am responsible for management, maintenance and monitoring of the area and this is done together with my good colleague Aron, who is the Park Ranger.

We are responsible for the maintenance of the boardwalk down to Sermermiut - we are responsible for the counting systems that put numbers on visiting guests in our area - we are responsible for marking the path systems - and then we are also responsible for communication material, so that you as a guest get as much as possible out of your visit.

At the Icefjord Center you can experience very good exhibitions about glaciology, ice, nature and cultural history. At the local museum in Ilulissat you can see interesting exhibitions about cultural history including an exhibit of some of the archaeological founds from Sermermiut. As Site Manager and Park Ranger, we are not part of the Icefjord Center - we are part of the municipality's administration.

We constantly have new plans and things that need to be maintained and developed - an exciting job in this completely unique nature.

I thank you for your visit and interest.
