The T-206 baseball card series is one of the most coveted by baseball card collectors. The cards were inserted into cigarette packs between 1909 and 1911 and distributed by the American Tobacco Company under brands like Piedmont, Caporal, Sovereign, Old Mill and others. Some players, such as Ty Cobb had more than one card produced during this time; “Bat on Shoulder” is one of four variations of the Detroit Tiger great.
Ty Cobb, the “Georgia Peach,” was known for his highly competitive, combative, and fierce playing style. Though this style of play made him, arguably the greatest of all time, it led to many conflicts with teammates, opponents, and spectators. Cobb ended his career with a batting average of .366, 4,189 hits, and 892 stolen bases. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in the inaugural class of 1936. Ty Cobb received the most votes in a class that included Babe Ruth, Christy Mathewson, Watler Johnson, and Honus Wagner.
