The Dream in Experience is an interdisciplinary project from the Department of Neurology of the Kepler University Hospital Linz in collaboration with Reinhard Gupfinger and researchers from JKU Linz at the intersection of art, science, and technology, that serves as an open space for sleep culture.
In a “sleep hotel” designed by Andreas Strauss, visitors sleep in specially developed capsules under varying conditions. Their sleep data is recorded and transformed in real time into visual and acoustic outputs.
Participation is organized via an online booking tool, medical staff from the sleep laboratory of the Department of Neurology provides on-site guidance.
The project aims to highlight sleep as a key factor for health and well-being and to encourage reflection on personal sleep behavior. Additionally, it opens up critical perspectives on sleep equity, artificial intelligence, and the use of big data in personal health monitoring.
