Although much damaged in the Reformation, the modern Chapter has so arranged this altar to give something of a better idea of the original look of this second enclosure where Mass was offered to the common people. Also, here we encounter another example of how the masons who built the early church communicated the purpose of the building in arrangements of numbers.
