Wave and wind
are at fierce odds today 
a south wind is shearing the tops
off the approaching waves
sending any sound of battle out to sea
we are left with the wild manes of stallions
and a resistant sibilant hiss
the bass thump of the final collapse
carried out to sea for only sailors to hear
it must be a terrifying sound 
in the fog.
