Master Bedroom - Art and Architecture

The bedroom of Cremora and Henry Rogers is a comfortable, airy space.  It is furnished with pieces typical of the Eighteen Eighties, here featuring a gorgeous Eastlake head and foot on the bed that were donated to the museum by the descendants of Henry's brother Horace.

The ceramic tiles surrounding the fireplace are again Minton Hollins tiles.  They depict Charles Dicken's work "Pickwick Papers" which was Henry Rogers' favorite book.

The riverscape scene captured by J Frank Waldo in the Parlor is the view from the east-facing bedroom window.  The large windows to the south facing the river also functioned as doors, permitting access to the airing porch.
