Rondeau's Invaders

Ontario has more invasive species than any other Canadian province or territory.

An invasive species is a plant, fungus, or animal that is not native to a specific location and has a tendency to spread to a degree that causes damage to the environment, human economy, or human health.

Invasive species can reduce the number of recreational spaces and compromise outdoor activites and experiences.

Some of the invasive species that we have here in Rondeau are: the Red-eared Slider turtle, Goldfish, Round Goby, Purple Loosestrife, Zebra Mussel, Yellow Iris, and Phragmites.

To help prevent the spread of these invasive species you can:

- Ensure to not release your pets into the wild

- Clean your gear when you are done. This includes anything from boats, trailers, ATVs, bicycles, and hiking boots!

- Don't move firewood - buy local!

- Volunteer your time and join removal efforts!
