Leonardo's conceptual design for a 'tank, was a groundbreaking invention aimed at revolutionising warfare. In his sketches, he envisioned a large, covered vehicle resembling a turtle, equipped with an array of cannons protruding from its sides.
The tank's outer shell was designed to provide protection to soldiers inside, while the cannons allowed for offensive capabilities in various directions. Remarkably ahead of its time, Leonardo's tank concept demonstrated an early understanding of the need for mobile, armoured firepower on the battlefield. While his tank was never constructed or used during his era, the military tank was used for the first time 400 hundred years later in World War 1.
