Chinese Elms

Continue uphill on Sanchez to 23rd Street, and turn left on 23rd.

There are a number of Chinese elms on this block of 23rd Street, and the one at 3937 23rd Street is one of the best. The scientific name is Ulmus parvifolia.  Further down the street as you approach Noe, the Chinese elms on both sides of the street create a nice “tree tunnel” effect on the street.
