Continue on Castro to 24th Street, and turn right.
At 4148 24th Street is a water gum. It also goes by the name small leaf tristania, and the scientific name is Tristaniopsis laurina. There are several other water gums on this block. Water gums have recently been the most commonly planted tree in San Francisco – they’re resistant to almost all pests, they’re easy to prune and maintain, and they don’t break sidewalks or get too big.
