Beef Learning Facility

The beef and dairy industry are closely connected partners. This beef facility allows our farm to raise crossbred cattle to send to market locally. Our crossbred cattle are half Angus, which is an all black breed of beef cattle. The monoslope design of the pens helps provide safety for both the animals and the people working with them. The six individual pens are able to house around 100 cattle at different stages of life. Even though these cattle are being raised for beef, they are very well cared for. The animals in this building have large fans to help keep them cool in the summer and have a bedded pack to keep them warm in the winter. These cattle are also fed a well-balanced diet, designed by a nutritionalist, to keep them healthy. This facility also houses a hydraulic chute, which is able to securely hold the cattle in place to allow a human to safely administer medications, vaccinations, or any other procedures that may need to be done to keep our beef cattle in good physical condition. Along with the feeder cattle that are raised in this barn, our farm is also home to mature Registered Angus, Red Angus, and Simmental cows that are part of a fall calving program. These beef cows spend the majority of their spring, summer, and fall grazing in the pasture behind the barn.
