Indigenous Heritage Acknowledgment

We recognize Reno and Sparks, Nevada as the ancestral home of the home Washoe (Wašiw) people, the Northern Paiute (Numu) people, and the Shoshone (Newe) people.  We acknowledge and honor them for their enduring connection to and stewardship of this land. Their deep cultural heritage and traditional ecological knowledge play a crucial role in preserving and protecting the natural environment of this region in spite of the many impediments of constant growth, resource depletion, and resource pollution over the decades.

By offering this tour, we hope to deepen appreciation for the value of these efforts and support endeavors that promote the preservation of the region's natural resources and splendor. We also hope to foster awareness of opportunities to safeguard, protect, and restore natural resources for the well-being of current and future generations.
