Welcome to our community environmental and sustainability volunteering the second stop! This has more great volunteer opportunities available in our local area, where you can make a positive impact on the environment and contribute to the sustainability of our communities. Without further ado…let’s get started!
Katharina’s Garden and Compost Program
At Katharina's Garden, they're committed to making the world a better place by promoting sustainability and equity. This means ensuring that everyone has access to nutritious food, comfortable shelter, and a supportive community. Together, they can achieve this goal by cultivating a garden, distributing food to those who are experiencing poverty, offering community compost programs, and training the next generation of farmers.
Their garden, located in Northwest Reno, may be small, but it's constantly growing and improving. In 2019, they're excited to be growing a variety of delicious produce, including foods for salads, pickles, and spaghetti sauce. They welcome anyone who would like to join them in the garden and get their hands dirty.

Nevada Land Trust
As fellow Nevadans, we are incredibly lucky to have access to some of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring natural spaces and wildlife in the country. But we can't take these special places for granted. They are at risk.
That's where Nevada Land Trust comes in. They're a group of dedicated individuals working alongside landowners, non-profits, government agencies, and advocacy groups to protect, preserve, and enhance Nevada's wild land, water, and wildlife. And they're always looking for more passionate people like you to join them!
They need volunteers with all sorts of skills and expertise to help them in their mission. Whether you're an expert in property appraisals, surveying, law, or restoration of native plants and trees, they could use your help. They're also looking for folks who can help with signage design, newsletter layout and printing, publicity and media, data entry, office work, professional photography, and GIS.
So if you're looking for a way to get involved and make a real difference in preserving Nevada's natural beauty, please consider volunteering with Nevada Land Trust. They couldn’t do their work without you!
