Great Basin Co-op

While walking the streets of Reno, you may get a little hungry. This next spot is excellent for a local snack or your checking off your grocery list. “The Great Basin Community Food Cooperative (GBCFC) is a community-owned, full-service grocery store committed to serving as an access point for environmentally sound, locally grown products.” They prioritize purchasing from local farmers, ranchers, producers, and larger independent companies whose practices align with organic and non-GMO guidelines. “To educate consumers and allow them to make their own choices, the Co-op team uses a color-coded shelf tag system for all products to identify locally produced, organic and non-GMO products, and products that may contain GMO ingredients.” After ten years of volunteer lead fundraising and generous support from local businesses, the Great Basin Co-op is now a great retail space cherished by the community.
