Downstairs

The downstairs of the house was used for the family dining room and the kitchen. The china set in the cabinet belonged to Annette Bullard and she used it for her wedding china. Notice the only remaining white marble fireplace that is part of the original 1860 home. The photo on the mantle is of Jessie Bell Graham who lived in this home with Annette Bullard. Jessie was an orphan and moved in with Annette and became more like an adopted daughter to her. Annette did not have any children and her main goal was to provide Jessie with training to become a maid so she would have an occupation when she grew up. In the kitchen, there is a wood-burning stove from the Kalamazoo Stove Company along with other 19th-century kitchen appliances. Please do not open any doors in the kitchen or touch the artifacts.
