Hello, this is Reven Marie Swanson, sculptor of “Delicate Balance” and “Dancing Moon Velocity.”
To speak about “Delicate Balance” first, this sculpture was created about our existence on the planet earth as a delicate balance between the first and final moments. A tightly-strung chord that mother nature lengthens and shortens, without notice or explanation. The installation of that delicate balance explores the relationship of modern technology and organic ecological rhythms.
Using images of the butterfly, I projected careful ponder to examine indiscriminate practices of garden chemicals, pollution, and electronic wastes. It’s an encouragement to rethink ideas and respect the delicate balance of our human race.
For both sculptures, the materials used are stainless steel and mild steel. I work the plate and pipe to bend and form into organic shapes. The butterflies were laser-cut and spot-welded over a mold made from yoga balls. The finishes are highly durable and powder-coated in painted enamel.
So please, enjoy, play, touch, watch, and feel the vibrant energy each sculpture has to offer. And take a little piece of sunshine, put it in your pocket, and keep it with you the entire day. Thank you very much.
