A fun fact is several types of whales can be seen off the California coast, including gray whales, blue whales, humpback whales, fin whales, minke whales, and killer whales.

The peak time for whale watching in Los Angeles is from December to April when gray whales are migrating more than a thousand miles from their feeding grounds in Alaska to their breeding grounds in Baja California, Mexico. Blue whales can also be seen from mid-summer to early fall as they feed on krill near the Channel Islands.
