Artbox Archives
Artbox Archives is comprised of a series of six murals based around story-keeping of those who came before us in the places we currently occupy.
Three of the murals were created by our teen program Color Squad, and three were created by our young adult mentorship program Chroma Collective, after a year of engagement with community members and elders. Our goal with this project was to capture some of the essence of a community almost lost to time and gentrification, and to uplift the stories of the unsung heroes keeping it alive.
This project is supported in part by the City of Austin Economic Development Department, and in partnership with Austin Transportation Department.
