Aquatic & Hydraulic Ingenuity - Hand-flipper

Leonardo invented a webbed glove to help people to swim further. The glove is secured around the wrist. Five long wooden sticks act as an extension of the fingers, and they are joined together by a distended membrane.

The design is intended to imitate a web-footed animal. The flippers that swimmers wear today draw on similar ideas.
