Former Seaver School

Head further down Patten and turn right at Eldridge Road.

This school was originally built in 1924 by Blackall, Clapp & Whittemore and then remodeled between 1929 and 1930 by John Cullen. It is a Georgian Revival building in keeping with the fashion of the era in which it was built. Finch/Abbey Group converted the building to condominiums in 1983. The architect of the project, Gary Gustafson, lives in a unit in the building. During the conversion project they carved out the grade to build the lower story units. There are 20 condos within the building.

Edwin W. Seaver was Headmaster at English High School in the 1870s and then became Superintendent of the Boston Public Schools for 24 years between 1880 and 1904.
