In Room

Using augmented reality technology, Alexander McLeod transforms the hotel rooms into living, immersive canvases through his work In Bloom. Delicate flowers bloom and recede in a slow, meditative rhythm, evoking the sense of calm, renewal, and restoration that defines a stay at the hotel.

“I like the idea of revealing the invisible; I believe that is the gift of artists,” explains McLeod. “In a country where blossoms are not eternal, I love the idea of honoring them forever. This work is a monument to the archetype of life and death—a vehicle of reproduction, the cycle of life made visible.”

Rooted in notions of memory, transformation, and beauty, In Bloom reflects McLeod’s ongoing exploration of interconnection and impermanence. His artistic direction invites visitors to pause, breathe, and reflect—offering a digital homage to the natural cycles we too often forget to contemplate.

Alexander McLeod’s practice spans digital animation, 3D rendering, and rapid prototyping, with a focus on transitional matter, simulation, and empathy. A graduate of Ryerson University’s Master of Digital Media program (2016) and holder of a Bachelor of Fine Arts from OCAD University (2007), McLeod continues to push the boundaries between art and technology.
