Mammoth Skull

This impressive skull was uncovered by a bulldozer during the construction of a stock pond in the late 1940s near Mina, South Dakota. Many pieces of the skull were found and the reconstruction revealed a very large mammoth. The tusks were too badly damaged to be repaired and were recreated to the exact size and shape of the original. The skull is mounted at roughly life-height.
