About Büyükada

Büyükada, meaning "Big Island" in Turkish, is the largest of the Princes' Islands in the Sea of Marmara, near Istanbul, Turkey. With its rich history, diverse attractions, and stunning natural beauty, Büyükada has long been a popular destination for both locals and tourists alike.

Located just off the coast of Istanbul, Büyükada covers an area of about 5 square kilometers (2 square miles). Despite its relatively small size, the island boasts four prominent hills: Büyükada Hill, Hristos Hill, Hamidiye Hill, and Yüce Tepe Hill, offering panoramic views of the surrounding sea and Istanbul skyline.

Historically, Büyükada was inhabited by fishermen, but the surge in tourism, particularly from visitors from Arab countries, transformed it into a bustling day-trip destination. The island's charm lies in its historic mansions, serene beaches, and lush greenery.

 

Accessible by Şehir Hatları ferries from various points in Istanbul, Büyükada offers visitors a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse themselves in the island's tranquil atmosphere.
