Finish the tour with Richard Beyer's infamous "Big Catch," on the corner of Marine View Drive South and 7th Avenue South in Des Moines.
Is it simply a playful romp that is inadvertently R-rated? Or is it distastefully provocative? Is it - as the artist asserts - about a fairy tale maiden turned into a fish is saved by a kiss? (The problem being that Mr. Beyer confessed to making that explanation up after the controversy surrounding the statue kicked in.)

Hmm. Making up a story after a controversy about what really happened kicks in. Where have we heard about that before?
Some say, Big Catch represents the Twilight-Zone, hard science-fiction aftermath of Harold Dahl's human-alien encounter, and asks, what happens when an alien slag drops into our Puget Sound environment? Perhaps that really is some out-of-this-world fish.
