The George Duncan Letter (optional)

The George Duncan Letter from August 14, 1820 addressed to Thomas Rotch. George was 17-years-old when he made his run to freedom. His letter thanks Thomas for the hospitality he received at Spring Hill and asks for assistance in finding and aiding his wife, Edy. George also makes mention of other freedom seekers as well as the families who are harboring them. It is a very lucky thing that this letter did not fall into the wrong hands. Thomas did find and help Edy. She and George were reunited and made their way into Canada together. They settled in the Ontario province creating their own community of newly freed African Americans.

The letter is read in its orginial authenticity by Duane Dodson.

You will hear him say "N.B." meaning "note well" - in other words - "this is important!"
