The 1st of three downtown stairways that lead from Bridgeway up to Bulkley Steet. These steps are start on the South side of downtown across from the fountain. The lane is marked with the Reade St. sign inside the narrow alley. The walk starts off giving the impression it is a narrow unwelcoming alley, but soon turns left and opens up to a wider walk and further up to a short paved path up to Bulkley St. From there you can go right to find Excelsior Ln or further left to El Monte Ln, both which will take you back down to Bridgeway. Or you can turn left and walk down to Princess Street, which will also bring you back to Bridgeway. Either direction, you can enjoy short walk reminecent of how the 19th century residence got from downtown to their neigborhood and back.
