Handrail Feature

Now that you are stood between the two lakes, take a moment to orientate the map so that you turn your device around so that the large lake is on your right and the smaller lake to your left. Note that we have put the map back to a default position, so for the rest of the course, you will need to rotate your device to orientate the map.

We're going to take the path that goes alongside the far bank of the lake on the right. When we walk along a feature such as a lake, fence, wall, road or anything linear, we call this handrailing. You effectively walk along a known feature and use the feature as a guide to your location.

As you walk along the lake, see if you can identify the island in the middle and you will be able to pinpoint exactly where you are along the path.

Stop at the far end of the lake, where lots of paths come together.
