Father of Flight - Aerial Screw

Leonardo da Vinci's visionary mind extended to the realms of flight, as seen in his ingenious design known as the 'aerial screw! Conceived around 1485, this conceptual flying machine resembled a spiral or screw, reflecting Leonardo's keen observation of nature's patterns. Intended for vertical takeoff, the aerial screw was an early exploration of vertical lift.

Four men on the central platform at the base pushed the bars in front of them to turn the shaft. As the linen-covered blades spun around they would create an upward push. AIthough not a functioning prototype, this invention illuminates Leonardo's pioneering spirit and ability to envision technological possibilities far beyond his time.
