Painted by George Gray, it depicts the signing of the Platte Purchase treaty between the Iowa, Sac, and Fox tribes, and the United States government in 1836. Counties carved from the Platte Purchase are Atchison, Nodaway, Holt, Andrew, Buchanan, and Platte. The mural hung in the Pony Bar’N in the Hotel Robidoux near the Pony Express Trail Map.
