29 The Missouri Swamp Fox

Painted by George Gray, it commemorates the life of M. Jeff Thompson, one of St. Joseph’s more flamboyant citizens. In 1861, he joined the Confederate Army and became known as the Missouri Swamp Fox for his daring horseback raids on Union supplies during the Civil War.
