   As we begin our journey through Hawaii, you will notice the ʻŌhiʻa tree on your left, with its iconic red lehua blossoms, this native tree is  a crucial player in our island's delicate balance. These evergreens not only add vibrancy to our landscapes but serve as guardians of our watersheds and  ensuring the health of our ecosystems. Beyond its symbolic value the hard wood of the Ohia tree was traditionally used for crafting tools and weapons and is still used in construction today. Despite facing challenges like Rapid ʻŌhiʻa Death, conservation initiatives are in full swing to protect these natural treasures.
