The Parkinson House

The Parkinson House was built around 1900 by Eliza Jane Peer and Risdon Morville Parkinson.

Risdon Parkinson was an active member of the community and local politician. But there's another Port Credit story built right into this house.

The bricks used to construct the house came from the Port Credit Brickyard.

The brickyard, founded in 1891 and closed in 1927, and the St. Lawrence Starch Company became two of Port Credit's important industries at the turn of the twentieth century.

Risdon's brother Stephen Parkinson married Eliza's sister Mary Helen Peer on December 16th 1908  and Risdon Parkinson married Eliza Jane Peer a week later on December 28th 1908.

Stephen and Risdon are sons of Stephen Parkinson and Marion Mowatt, Mary and Eliza are daughters of Lewis Peer and Jane Fletcher.

The historically designated Parkinson house remains a private residence.
